In the Mkshlyan's small shelter, the family lived with their ordinary daily routine. The smallest member of the family was warming his little hands near to furnace, women were busy with household chares. The family was surprised when Michael Ajapahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the “Gyumri without Makeshift shelters” Foundation, executive director Gharib Harutyunyan and other representatives of the Foundation knocked on the door.
-We are going to your new apartment.- It is really difficult to describe the happiness of Mkshlyans when they heard these words said by Mikael Ajanpahyan.
-You told us such a good news,- says the father of family, who couldn't find another words but word of gratitude, to express his happiness.
“We even didn't hope that one day we will have our apartment, ” Mkshlyans say, still not believing his ears.
Mkshlyan's dream to have an apartment came true thanks to “Dilmah” and “Sovrano” companies.
Sos Sahakyan, the founder of “Sovrano” company, said: “Today, when I visit to [Mkshlyans] makeshift shelter, I realized that still many families are waiting for an apartment, and this process requires speed, people must leave their houses. We must and release them from terrible pressure for 29 years”. He adds that foreign partners are also trying to participate in charitable initiatives. Sos Sahakyan expressed hope that such charitable initiatives will be continuous.
The smallest member of Mkshlyans familiy was very excited and does not hide his joy. He turns the keys of an apartment in his little hands and tells reporters that these are the keys to their new home. He promises to study well at school, become a good person and help the needy people, remembering that some kind people also had help his family.
The 27-year-old six-meter makeshift shelter of Mkshlyans, did not have elementary conditions for normal live: the roof dripped, the floor was rotten. The landlady told us that there have not water in home, they brought water for drinking, and for other household needs used melted snow.
Now Mkshlyans has a safe roof and their every day fight for survival is in the past. The child will prepare lessons in normal conditions and will sleep peacefully without fear of rats and insects.
The apartment given to Mkshlyans was the 27th apartment gave by the “Gyumri without makeshift shelters” Foundation.
